The NIE, plainly
What the foreigner identity number is, who in Murcia will ask for it, and how a single appointment gets it assigned.
Murcia · NIE, TIE and padrón
For students of the UMU and UCAM, families putting down roots, people retiring towards the Mar Menor and everyone who works the region’s fields and warehouses: we sort out the form, pay-in slip and booking with you, then point you to the right office door.
Why the number comes first
People come to Murcia for very different reasons: a degree at the university in Espinardo or at UCAM, a contract with one of the farms and packing houses that keep the region’s produce on the road, a slower life by the Mar Menor, a family move for a new job. Sooner or later each of those plans meets the same request, because a landlord, a bank, an employer and a notary all want a NIE before they will sign anything.
The Policía Nacional assigns the number at a single appointment. The care goes into what comes first: telling the EX-15 from its sister forms, paying the 790 código 012 with the right boxes ticked, catching a gap in the cita previa calendar, and knowing whether Cabezo Cortado or a comisaría nearer your home is the better door for your case. That groundwork is what we do alongside you.
The almanac
Gardeners around Murcia work in an order that never changes: prepare, sow, water, gather. Your paperwork grows the same way.
You tell us why you need the number and what passport you hold. We work out the procedure that fits, whether that is a plain NIE, the green certificate or a TIE, and list the papers that go with it.
We fill in the right EX form with you, prepare the 790 código 012 so the fee is paid against the correct procedure, and check every copy before it goes in the folder.
The cita previa is the slow part. We watch the booking system for Cabezo Cortado and the comisarías of the region, and help you take a slot that suits your week.
You walk in carrying everything, knowing roughly what the officer will look at first. What you carry home depends on the procedure: a certificate, or the receipt for a TIE card to collect later.

Close to home
Murcia keeps its foreigner paperwork under one roof: the police unit for foreigners, the Brigada Provincial, and the Delegación del Gobierno’s own extranjería office share the complex at Cabezo Cortado, in Espinardo, on the N-301. It deals with nearly everything, from a first NIE to a TIE renewal. If you live further out, the comisarías of Molina de Segura, Cartagena, Lorca and Yecla also list NIE and TIE procedures. Registering your address is a town hall matter: the Servicio de Estadística on Calle Puerta Nueva and the municipal information offices, Plaza de Europa among them, handle the padrón.
Where most cases go
What the listing names
policia.es gives no opening hours for the unit. The Delegación del Gobierno lists every Policía Nacional procedure here as cita previa only.
Residence and work authorisations such as arraigo, changes of status, residence on grounds of illness or gender violence, and the residence card of a family member of an EU citizen.
Same complex as the Brigada Provincial. Its page lists the Policía Nacional procedures (NIE assignment, EU registration certificate, residence and concordance certificates, letters of invitation, extensions, TIE) as cita previa only. It spells the street “Alfonso”; policia.es spells it “Alonso”.
Cabezo Cortado and the comisarías of Molina de Segura, Cartagena, Lorca and Yecla: what each office lists, from the official sources.
Registering your address with Murcia town hall: the offices, the two kinds of appointment, the documents and the renewals.
For newcomers at the Universidad de Murcia and UCAM: the welcome services, the padrón and the residence papers of your first term.
How we work
We explain each step in clear English and deal with the forms, the offices and their vocabulary in Spanish.
Every form, fee and copy is reviewed before your appointment, so nothing small sends you home.
Cabezo Cortado, but also Molina de Segura, Cartagena, Lorca and Yecla: we point you to the office that suits your case and your address.
Every procedure here can be done alone, for the official fee only. We tell you so, and help when you would rather not.

Paths people take
Online, on the sede electrónica of the public administrations, in its cita previa for foreigners: pick Murcia as the province, your trámite next, an office last. Cabezo Cortado appears for most procedures, and the comisarías of Molina de Segura, Cartagena, Lorca and Yecla for many. The booking is free.
The provincial police unit for foreigners, known as the Brigada Provincial, in the Cabezo Cortado complex in Espinardo, on the N-301. Next to it, on the same site, the Delegación runs the office that decides on authorisations.
It is the address of the Cabezo Cortado complex, number 38, at kilometre 388 of the N-301 in Espinardo. The Delegación spells it Alfonso, policia.es Alonso: it is the same place.
At the Brigada Provincial at Cabezo Cortado, or at a comisaría of the region that lists TIE issuance: Molina de Segura, Cartagena, Lorca and Yecla do. The huellas need their own cita previa.
Any European, Swiss and EEA nationals included, who lives in Spain longer than three months. It is requested with form EX-18 and shows your NIE.
With the town hall: at the Servicio de Estadística on Calle Puerta Nueva, by appointment, or at a municipal information and registration office such as Plaza de Europa. It is free.
Good neighbours
Your number is one row of a much larger plot. For the visa, the house hunt, or a request you would rather send from your sofa, two partners tend the rows we do not.
Relocation support for the larger picture: choosing a visa route, finding a place to live and getting through the admin of the first weeks in Spain.
An online way to set the number in motion from wherever you are, useful when you cannot wait for a slot at an office in the region.
A few lines about your plans are plenty. Our email back names the procedure, lists the papers, and explains how we can help you land the cita previa.
No obligation, and no fee until you decide.
